What are the APN
Settings for my JapanSIMs eSIM?
JapanSIMs eSIM APN
settings auto-fill on most phones. Enter APN manually only if needed. Follow
this article for step-by-step setup.
The APN (Access Point
Name) settings are important to ensure that your eSIM is able to access the
local network properly and for the use of mobile data.
Automatic APN
settings
In most cases, JapanSIMs
eSIMs will automatically configure your APN settings for you, so you shouldn't
need to set them up.
Manual APN settings
However, for some
devices, the APN does not always auto-configure, and in these cases you will be
required to set the APN fields manually.
If you are configuring
the APN manually, ensure that you enter "Japan" in the
"Name" field and use the APN “bicsapn”.
Additionally,
double-check your current APN configuration to ensure it matches the provided
information, and try toggling Airplane Mode on and off as a quick connection
troubleshoot.
Note that in all
cases, you should always leave "Username" and "Password"
fields blank. Fill in ONLY the "APN" field with the correct setting.

Troubleshooting
Common APN Issues
Here are solutions
to frequently encountered APN problems:
- APN Not Saving or Appearing: Restart the
device, then reattempt saving the APN. Reboots can refresh the settings.
- Internet Not Working After Setup: Confirm
you've used the correct APN based on your region. For immediate fixes,
toggle Airplane Mode ON and OFF.
- Deleting Other APNs: Remove additional APN
configurations to force the device to use the intended settings.
- Missing or Greyed-Out APN Option: You may
not be connected to a supported network, or the APN is pre-configured and
cannot be manually changed. Confirm your device is connected to a
supported local network. Move to an area with better signal strength if
needed.
- Unable to Save APN Settings: Duplicate APN
entries or an inactive eSIM profile may cause errors. Ensure that your
eSIM profile is active. Delete any existing duplicate APN entries.
